About Bill Give Bill Evers your support for Trustee, County Board of Education. As a family man, scholar and man of action, he is the right person for our community. Family Man Bill Evers is the father of two young people, one who is currently in public high school and another who is attending a public university in California. Bill is as much a part of their lives now as he was when they were young children. Bill Evers is an active, hands-on dad who has been an advocate for his children's education throughout their public school years. Bill is first and foremost a dad. Scholar Bill Evers is an internationally respected scholar on education issues. He has authored articles on educational issues, and he has collaborated extensively with the foremost authorities on education in America. Bill's recent books and articles on education:
Bill received his Ph.D., Master's and Bachelor's degrees in political science from Stanford University. Man of Action Bill Evers is a scholar who has been actively working to improve educational opportunities for all children in our local community and beyond. At every level of involvement, he has demonstrated his commitment to the principle of equal opportunity, high standards and accountability. For many, many years Bill Evers has been an advocate for underserved populations. Bill most recently served as President of the Board of the East Palo Alto Charter School, one of the best in Northern California. He served on the Board since the school was founded in 1997. Bill Evers' service on commissions and boards on the state level also demonstrates his commitment to equal opportunity and high standards for all children in California. He has worked very hard to set high academic standards in mathematics, language arts, science and history by serving as a Commissioner on the California State Commission for the Establishment of Academic Content and Performance Standards. Bill Evers has also served on the California statewide testing team, specifically on the Content Review Panels where he drafted and reviewed test questions for thoroughness and accuracy. He also served on the policy board of the California History-Social Science Project. On this Board Bill focused on helping K-12 teachers to effectively teach the history content standards. Nationally, Bill Evers has served on a federal panel that annually honors the nation's outstanding high school seniors in academics and arts. Bill Evers was appointed to another national board by the U.S. Secretary of Education where he helped shape federal educational research policy. Bill Evers served on a national panel that reviews grants for improving education, and he served on other national panels that review grant proposals in mathematics and science education. Internationally, Bill Evers volunteered to go to Iraq for five months where he assisted the Iraqi Ministry of Education. |
