"It is time for a change! It makes sense to have at least one school board member with a child currently enrolled in our school district" As a candidate for the Santa Maria-Bonita Board of Education, I believe that we owe to our children the best possible education, one that will prepare them for their adult life in this century. To achieve a quality education our kids must realize that education is important to their parents, the community, and themselves. Increasing class size is the wrong direction for our schools. Eliminating teachers is the wrong direction for our schools. We need to remove these obstacles to student achievement and to teacher performance by working with teachers, parents, and the community to find ways to balance our budget with cuts as far away from the classroom as possible. Classroom cuts should be the last decision not the first. The Board must ensure that teachers are made a part of the decision making process. Teachers need to be at the table when decisions are made, so that their voice is heard and their suggestions become a part of the decision. We must create an environment that will attract and maintain the most qualified teachers. Our kids deserve the best, and the community should provide nothing less. I ask for your vote for school board. On November 2nd Elect the only candidate that has a child enrolled in the Santa Maria-Bonita School District. |
