Smart Voter Political Philosophy for James F. Cote

Candidate for
Board Member; Montecito Union School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I see the following three top priorities facing the School Board:

First, maintaining the sound financial position of MUS. This will require vigilant oversight of the budget and strong support of the invaluable contributions from the PTA and MEF.

Second, supporting the remarkable group of administrators, teachers, and staff we have at MUS. We will soon need to undertake fair and reasonable negotiations on the new teachers' contract. We also must continue the "A Mind at a Time" training of our teachers and the use of this approach in helping our students maximize their learning abilities.

Third, we need to complete the YMCA property exchange. The Board will need to be actively involved in ongoing fund-raising efforts to complete this exchange.
