CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL

EUGENE (GENE) J. BOYLE, JR.

Age: 66

Occupation: Aerospace Systems Engineer

My wife Michele, her mom Wanda and I happily reside in Solvang on Viborg Rd. We have three children; Douglass, Chris and Gabrielle. I've been an engineering manager in aerospace companies with assignments in Europe, the Pacific and on both coasts. I'm semi-retired and consult for companies at Vandenberg AFB.

As a project manager, I've developed strong problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills which can be applied to issues faced by our city. I advocate business revenue growth. I strongly support our tourism industry as it provides sales tax revenues for services that our community enjoys. I favor the continued funding of the SCVB and social services such as the library, Senior Center, Elverjoy Museum, People Helping People, and Danish Days.

My managerial experience will facilitate responsible fiscal oversight of our limited resources and help us successfully navigate fiscal constraints. I have been active in community services through local church organizations and personally supported Project Children working across religious denominations to bring peace to Northern Ireland two children at a time. Mayor Smyser and two council members have endorsed my candidacy.
