Sound financial planning is crucial if we are to fulfill the promises of CityhoodBy Jean W. BloisCandidate for City Council Member; City of Goleta | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
We must be fiscally responsible if we want to improve recreation, pave roads, revitalize Old Town and offer better programs for our youth. As a city, we can attract funds to make Goleta even better. We can apply for municipal grants to revitalize Old Town. We can insure that street maintenance is done in a timely fashion. Today we have an annual budget allocation of $7,000 for youth programs. We need to enhance that budget. If we want to develop a thriving recreation department and provide safe places for our children to play, we must preserve our financial resources. We have the opportunity to voice our needs at regional meetings now and to capitalize programs through grants. But, we can only improve family services by sound financial planning and fiscal waste reduction. I will serve as a voice to protect essential services like police and fire protection from cuts. I will vote to reduce our exposure to litigation, which can drain funds from our budget. And I will take all action possible to improve Goleta for our families and youth. |
