I was on the Board for a week and never have I said I do not support the Chief.Late this past July, I was appointed to a vacant position on the Board by a motion that was supported unanimously by the entire board. After a week on the Board, actions were taken that I did not dream up nor support. The furror surrounding a motion on the board to visit the chief's contract was a result of poor Board communication and is something that got out of hand. Aside from other issues that I have previously outlined, this is one reason I wish to remain a member of this Board. I wish to be able facilitate change and be a voice of reason. There must be an effort to reduce the conflict and get past the bickering. If we are able to effect this change, it will lessen the polarization and begin the consensus building that this Board needs. We can achieve our goals but we must focus and move in the same direction. Chief Martinez is well respected and a tremendous asset to this District. I have no reason to cast a vote to remove him from his position as our Chief. Please vote for Matt Kelly, I have the experience and ability to provide a stable influence at the Fire Board. |
