Sal Tinajero, A Teacher for School BoardBy Sal TinajeroCandidate for Board Member; Santa Ana Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My experience as a teacher for eight years and my service on the school board for the last four years has been enriched by young students who have learned that a community that embraces its education and democracy, benefits and thrives. Each year, students in my classroom have excelled beyond many expectations and that is why I was honored to be recognized as 1999 Middle School Teacher of The year and the PTA's Annual Very Special Teacher Award in June of 2004. In the last four years our students test schores have continued to improve. Measure C dollars are now being put to work and have resulted in the modernization and expansion of four schools and currently ten more schools are being modernized. Before I was elected, the Santa Ana School Board lacked the voice of a teacher. I ask you to help me to continue to fulfill that role. I am the only member on the board that is a teacher and who has a child enrolled in our public school system. As a teacher and a parent of a first grade student I want to continue to be an advocate for a quality education in our community and add your voice- the voice of parents, the voice of the community. |
