California is bigger than most nations. It does not make sense to have a large bureaucracy in Sacramento determine how to fund education at the local level. Irvine has demonstrated its success in public education over the years, and has earned the right to have greater control over its funding. I believe the state should decentralize and push down oversight to the local level, either to unique districts, such as Irvine, or to the county level where priorities can be better managed and supported.
