Orange County, CA | November 2, 2004 Election |
Candidate StatementBy Michael Rafael "Mike" MerinoCandidate for Member, City Council; City of Orange | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My name is Mike Merino. I'm a business owner in our city, architect, and resident. A Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom veteran, I served willingly to protect our freedoms. Please help me bring that level of commitment to our council. I will make your quality of life my highest priority. Public safety, police and fire, streets and infrastructure maintenance, parks and senior services are critical to our future. We must develop the city smarter not faster. More taxes and regulations do not solve problems. Instead, I will apply creative and innovative problem solving to find opportunities not obstacles. I decided to run for city council after visiting city hall on business and feeling that no one listened or cared enough to help. Our city should be more responsive to its taxpayers. I will protect the interests of local businesses. If we forget them, they and their jobs will leave. This means city contracts, as well as revenues, stay local. I will fight Sacramento politicians to keep tax revenues. I will always vote with taxpayer's interests in mind. I will bring honest, experienced leadership to the council. Together, we can make Orange a better place to live and work. |
