Candidate for
Board Member; Brea Olinda Unified School District; 4 Year Term

I believe:

• that the BOUSD has a history of excellence and a strong record of academic achievement.

• in academic improvement and that in the competitive world in which we live our students need to know more and be able to perform better than ever before.

• that all students deserve quality teachers who support students and have high expectations for them. It has been and will continue to be a priority for me to support and retain quality staff.

• that forming partnerships with parents, teachers, staff, students, and community members is essential to academic success and high performing schools.

• that curricular and instructional improvements must be based on quality research and regularly evaluated for effectiveness.

• that all students deserve a safe, clean, and orderly environment in which to learn.

• in timely planning for future modernization and expansion projects to accomodate an expanding population.

• that financial resources must be maximized for the benefit of students, and that balanced budgets and prudent reserves are essential to the long-term stability of our school district.

• that students, parents, teachers, and all staff need to be respectful of one another and that all parties should be fair-minded as we work together.

• that a school board member is responsible to the community and should be open-minded--ready to listen and make fair decisions based on fact and input and not on his or her own biases.
