Candidate for
Director; Marin Healthcare District

Marin deserves a new, state-of-the-art hospital wing to replace the aging parts of Marin General Hospital, at no cost to taxpayers. A plan for construction of a new facility must be developed immediately to meet State-imposed deadlines for seismic safety.

The District Board must improve its decision-making process in order to negotiate strongly and fairly for a new lease and hospital. Otherwise, the taxpayers of Marin County will be forced to raise taxes to pay for a seismically safe hospital. The life and health of our community hospital are at stake.

A re-negotiation of the lease between the District and Marin General should include provisions for reporting Performance Improvement measures to the District Board, and for District Board representation on the Marin General Hospital Board.

As a District Board member, I will fight to have Sutter Health construct a new hospital for Marin County and to strengthen the oversight of the hospital by the District Board. I will always put Marin's healthcare needs first.
