I believe that democracy is a participatory activity and:

  • To be a healthy person, one has to attend to the health of one's community,

  • City governments are created to serve their citizens,

  • We do not have to choose between the environment and economics,

  • Public moneys are for the greater public benefit and not for private profit or personal gain,

  • It is not only the right of citizens to question their leaders, it is their responsibility.

The underlying principal of democracy and government is our First Amendment: Government shall take no action to prohibit the "freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
