Director of West Basin Municipal Water District is a non-partisan office. I believe that it will best serve the interests of the community to manage the district according to the requirements of science, engineering economics, and California law. A water district is not a city council or California Assembly committee; politics, especially partisan politics, must be set aside.
Politicians squirm when their abuses are exposed. On the other hand, media can not be trusted to be fair. One way to expose the actions of the water district board is to publish their minutes on their web page. The posted minutes must be in a form that can be copied, pasted into a spreadsheet, searched, and sorted (not a .pdf or image file).
As your director, I would be accessible. I will not be above anyone. Just e-mail or call by phone with your ideas. I'll listen.
Intrusion by government agencies into the lives of the people has become a big problem. I will oppose such intrusion by the water district. I will encourage conservation and support water education of the public to reduce waste, but I will avoid the use of law to require conservation measures. If you want a long hot shower during a drought emergency, you will not be arrested (but you will have to pay for your luxury).
