CANDIDATE'S STATEMENT

By Kal J. Vaughn

Candidate for Board Member; Taft City School District

This information is provided by the candidate
For the past twelve years I have served our community as a board member with the Taft City School District. After the 1992 election I quickly became familiar with the complex operations of our school district. I was elected by my fellow board members to serve as Board President in 1995, 2000, and 2001. I am currently representing our community as Government Relations Chairperson for the California School Boards Association and as Treasurer for the Kern County School Boards Association. I am a conservative voice on the board and a promoter of parental involvement and personal responsibility. Last year we started the largest modernization project of our six school sites in over fifty years, a project that the voters of Taft approved by well over 80%. I am committed to the successful completion of that project. The best schools in the State of California are in Taft and they are getting better. The Taft City School District provides every student with a quality, comprehensive educational experience. We have the best teachers and administrators along with a generous, supportive community and it has been an honor for me to work with, serve, and represent such a dedicated team.
