Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Jon Burkett

Candidate for
Board Member; Greenfield Union School District

This information is provided by the candidate

As a member of the sschool board, I believe that we must focus on the needs of the students we educate while planning for the needs of those we will educate. One of the most significant challenges facing the Greenfield Union School District is the explosive growth in the number of new homes being built within the district. According to a recent study we will need to build as many as five new schools over the course of the next seven years.

Planning and managing this growth is my first priority, however associated with more classrooms are more staff. We must also have a plan to integrate new teachers and support staff into the district while, at the same time, provide opportunities for existing staff to advance in their careers.

Finally, we must insure that our instructional programs and materials are on target for our students to continue to show the progress that we expect and that the law requires.
