It was my good fortune to be born and raised on a ranch in San Ramon. As a farmer and rancher, my father was interested in creating a fire district that would best serve the local community. In the early 1960s, he and Bill Fereira worked to form the autonomous special district of San Ramon Fire. This was a paid fire fighter department that included many local volunteers. My father served on the Board into the mid 70s and in 1978 San Ramon and Danville consolidated to form San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District. This district has always been important to me and the quality of service provided. To be as prepared and well informed as possible, I have been actively involved in county fire organizations, Special District educational opportunities and other governing training workshops and seminars.
