Full Biography for Georgean M. Leopold

Born in Oakland but raised in Hayward, my husband and one child moved to Dublin in 1971. My community involvement began with the election to incorporate Dublin/San Ramon. Soon I found myself serving on many non-profit boards as well as helping at my children's schools (by 1978 I had 4 children), sports and scouting. I formed the bi-city youth sports group that leased Athan Downs and the Dublin Sports Grounds from DSRSD in 1978-79 and operated them so that youth sports like soccer and little league had a place to play when DSRSD was forced by funding losses to close all of the parks. Incorporation investigation committies were formed for both cities by 1980. I served on the Dublin Muncipal Advisory Committee. I opened my own business in 1977 in Dublin and was elected to the chamber board of directors. In 1983 because of my service to both the residential and business communities, I was named the Buiness Person of the year. I have served on inumerable non-profit boards locally, regionally, and statewide. I currently serve as a Dublin Heritage and Cultural Arts Commissioner, a Comissioner on the Status of Women, a board member of the Dublin Historical Perservation Association (since 1990) and the Dublin Fine Arts Foundation (since 1997). My children are all grown and except for one, married. I have 4 grandchildren and I work for a local CPA firm. All of my post secondary education is in the field of taxation. In 1978 I passed the gruelling 2 day federal exam to become an Enrolled Agent, a federal license granted by the Internal Revenue Service to represent taxpayers. I remarried in 1995 but because of my history of community involvment, I remained Georgean Vonheeder for the name recognition. This year I am running as Georgean Leopold to honor my husband for his unequivical support of my community involvement. |
