The Federated Indians have the right and authority to construct their hotel/resort/casino project. Rohnert Park must have funds to mitigate the impact of the project.
My responsibility, as a City Councilman, is to protect the interests of Rohnert Park's 43,000 citizens. The welfare of the City is more important than being on the City Council. The choice for the City Council was clear: work with the Federated Indians Of The Graton Rancheria and gain $200,000,000 or let them work independently and gain nothing.
We were responsible and faithful to our elected office. As a sovereign nation, the tribe doesn't need City permission to build their hotel / resort / casino project outside of Rohnert Park. I made the responsible decision in support of our residents and our City.
