Should we abolish the Income Tax?

Just think of what that would mean in terms of your family budget. You could save better for your own retirement. You could put your child in a private school where they could get an education that would teach your values instead of those approved by the government. You could give to your favorite cause, church, or charity in a way you had never been able to before. Perhaps you or your spouse would no longer have to work to provide two incomes, so that one of you could stay home and raise your children. In other words, you would have more power over your own life, and government would have less.

But isn't that "selfish?" I have never understood that claim, that it is selfish for you to keep the money you earn and spend it as you see fit, but it is somehow noble for the federal government to take it from you without your consent, and give it to large corporations, foreign governments, and Jesse Helms' favorite tobacco lobbyists.

If elected, I will work to abolish the federal income tax and repeal the Sixteenth Amendment, in conjunction with removing the federal government from all areas not authorized by the Constitution.
