1. What can be done to ensure that California gets its fair share of federal resources?

My priority as your advocate in Washington D.C. is to work for legislation, which will benefit you, your family, and the people of California. Sometimes that means I will craft and introduce bills myself, and sometimes I will work with other members of Congress who share my goals by co-sponsoring a bill they have written. Writing amendments to bills and winning support for them is another way I work on solving problems for citizens in the Thirty Eighth District and the nation.In order to ensure our district gets it fair share of federal resources I will seek appointments to the House Education and the Workforce Committee, Judiciary Committee, and Appropriations Committee.

2. What are your foreign policy priorities for the United States?

The insistence on a unilateral approach to confronting Iraq not only increased our burdens, both militarily and economically, but it also defied the worldwide consensus that, without an immediate threat, the unilateral action of a great power against a lesser state is a banished aspect of the colonial epoch. Today, the United States is fervently trying to maintain the mantle of liberator and avoid the label of occupier. In large part, this is due to the overwhelming presence of the United States unleavened by a broad array of allies or the significant presence of the United Nations or NATO. In contrast, truly multi-national operations in places like the Balkans have managed to avoid the stigma of insurgency and occupation for almost a decade. A multilateral approach is not a talisman that will guarantee success, but it is more congruent with a world that has rejected the "colonial" solution in favor of multi-national action.

3. What are your priorities for the federal budget?

My priorities for the federal budget is to balance the budget and spending must be limited to basic needs such as food and nutrition, homeland security, the environment, housing, education, the environment and veterans' benefits.
