1. What can be done to ensure that California gets its fair share of federal resources?
|
Answer from Paul L. Erickson:
The federal elected officials need to very aggressive on the national level, with a Republican majority, it would be more effective to have a Republican Congressperson to stem to outflow of our dollars to Washington. We have serious needs for job creation, transportation improvements and better education of our young people. The road system is inadequate, we have no air travel and the public transportation is hardly used. We've lost 1,000's of jobs without hardly a complaint from our officeholders, except possibly to blame others, namely the Republicans. Once elected our Congressperson should forget partisanship and work for and with all the people.
2. What are your foreign policy priorities for the United States?
|
Answer from Paul L. Erickson:
Finish our work in Iraq with the people of Iraq having a democratically elected government responsible to all the citizens. I know most people in the 6th CD are against the Iraq intervention and hold the President in the utmost disdain. To them I can only say that it is not only Republicans but some Democrats who favor the President's actions. If the end result is peace in the mideast the greater good will have been served. Time will tell.
3. What are your priorities for the federal budget?
|
Answer from Paul L. Erickson:
Independent audits of every program and department, elimination of duplication in government programs, consider greater privatization of some programs to increase efficiency.
