1. What does California need to do to address the current budget crisis?
|
Answer from George Reis:
Reduce Spending! It really is that simple - many government programs begin
with great intentions, then grow to astronomical size, and become more of a
problem than they were intended to cure. We need to return to a limited
government that protects the rights of individual citizens - period. Cutting
government programs sometimes seems like a heartless approach, but it is
really just a difficult action that will enable all of us to live better lives.
Unfortunately, the Republican and Democrat politicians refuse to take this
needed action.
2. What should the state's priorities be for K-12 education? For the Community College System?
|
Answer from George Reis:
The state needs to provide major tax credits for those who choose home
schooling and private schools to meet their educational family goals.
3. What measures would you support to address California's water needs?
|
Answer from George Reis:
I admit that I don't know enough about this topic to provide specific goals.
4. What should the Legislature be doing to address the needs of Californians without health insurance?
|
Answer from George Reis:
We mistakenly equate health with health insurance. In doing so, we have set
goals of having everyone insured at a very high cost. If we return our health
care to the open market, health care costs and health insurance costs will
drop significantly. The greastest thing we can do for health care is to remove
politicians from the equation.
