The first immigrants came to this continent with the hope of freedom and the dream of prosperity. They won their freedom and gave us the greatest form of government known to man and we quickly became the most prosperous nation in the world.

There is one caveat to our representative form of government. First we have to exercise our right to vote and second we have to elect high-quality officials to ensure our freedoms are maintained and permit yankee ingenuity to develop.

Republicans are small in number in San Mateo County but the tide is turning as witnessed by the recent recall election. Our Republican Governor has his hands tied with a democratic legislature whose priorities include legislation about cross-dressing and fung shui. These topics are OK for a coffee shop but not in our state government, especially when state spending is out of control and basic services are declining.
