Political Philosophy for Ken Yeager

Dear Neighbor, Creating healthy neighborhoods has been my highest priority at City Hall since I was elected in 2000. As your councilmember, I've been successful in reducing traffic congestion and making neighborhood streets safer, building new parks, opening a community center, extending the Los Gatos Creek and Guadalupe River trails, and purchasing land for a new library. At my urging, the airport's curfew is more secure and airlines can now be fi ned for late night violations. Improvements on Lincoln Avenue, West San Carlos, The Alameda, and Winchester Blvd. have created jobs, enhanced our neighborhood shopping districts and provided more dining and shopping choices for neighbors. As a college professor and former school trustee, I continue to focus on improving education at our local schools. Homework centers now exist in all District 6 public schools and streets around schools are safer. As the Library Commission liaison, I won the fight to maintain library hours at our Rose Garden and Willow Glen branch libraries. As Chair of the Aging Services Master Plan, I'm leading the citywide effort to strengthen senior programs. In 2002, Walk San Jose honored me for my work to create healthier neighborhoods and the Resident newspaper named me Best Neighborhood Activist. Visit my website at http://www.kenyeager.com for my ideas to make City Hall work with us, not against us. |
