RE-ELECT PAUL S. MARCHAND RIVERSIDE COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CENTRAL COMMITTEE

By Paul S. Marchand

Candidate for Democratic Party County Central Committee; County of Riverside; District 80

This information is provided by the candidate
As both Central Committeemember and City Councilmember, I serve as a vital link between local communities and the Democratic Party.
I'm Paul S. Marchand, Cathedral City Councilmember and Central Committeemember representing the Riverside County portion of the 80th Assembly District.

I NEED YOUR VOTE for re-election to the Riverside County Democratic Central Committee. Together we have the power, together we can take back our county and our country. Si, se puede!

The late great House Speaker Tip O'Neill used to observe that all politics is local. For most Americans, cities and city government are their primary point of contact with government institutions.

That's why it's so important to insure that Democratic core values have advocates on local city councils, and why Party organizations like the Riverside County Central Committee have representatives with experience in local government.

As an incumbent member of both the Cathedral City City Council and the Riverside County Democratic Central Committee, I have acted, and if re-elected will continue to act as a bridge between local governments and the Central Committee.

I work hard to insure that Democratic core values are respected in my own community, and I am able to keep local issues before our Central Committee.

The truth be told, we need more Democrats in local office: Nearly three-quarters of local "nonpartisan" officeholders in Riverside County are registered Republicans.

That's not right. Democrats are being ignored and marginalized in too many Riverside County communities, and our values and concerns -the values and concerns of working families, seniors, kids, the disabled, the poor- are being ignored, too.

It's important for the Central Committee not only to select, elect, and support Democrats in local office, it's also important that Democratic local officials have a voice on the Central Committee, to make sure our Democratic leaders understand the needs of local communities.

I'm proud to be a Democrat, and I'm proud to serve my community as a City Councilmember.

I'm proud to be an advocate for Democratic values in my City, and to be a voice for labor, for education, for reproductive choice, for seniors, for those without a voice.

I've walked the line with striking food service workers, I've supported a labor peace agreement in Cathedral City that will bring a second union hotel to the Coachella Valley.

I've walked the line for women's reproductive rights, I've spoken for the rights of all Californians to form legally-recognized families, I've worked to enhance dignity for workers and immigrants, and I've worked to insure that every vote counts.

At the same time, I'm proud to act as an advocate for cities and communities in the Central Committee, insuring that we continue to stress the importance of getting Democrats elected at all levels of government in Riverside County.

I ask for your vote, because together, we have the power to take back our county and our country. Si, se puede!
