Position Paper

By Wendy McPhee

Candidate for Member, Town Council; Town of Ross

This information is provided by the candidate
With the many issues that face a town, a council person needs to be sensitive to the issues of individual citizens while balancing the long-range view of the community. I can do that.
Dear Friends and Neighbors, I have lived, worked and raised my three children in this wonderful community for the last 15 years. I will dedicate myself to representing you in a straight forward and sincere manner.

No.1-Communication I will work hard to "bridge the gap" in communication on the many issues that face citizens and council members. There should be "no surprises". I can accomplish this with my strong communication skills in print and in council. In print, I am in favor of detailed guidelines. In council, communicate expectations clearly.

No.2-Safe Routes to School I will work hard to continue the work on Safe Routes to Schools. As a designer, I am trained to think outside of the box. I treasure our country-rural setting and know there are other natural materials besides concrete to make the key areas that feed Ross School a safe access for all town residents. Traffic calming measures need to be applied to our "stress" areas.

No.3-Fiscal Responsiblilty I will work hard to continue fiscal responsibility to ensure that we don't overspend while maintaining the superb services to which we are accustomed. As a businesswoman with responsibility for large budgets, I am capable of analyzing facts to make sensible and responsible decisions.

No.4-Environmental Health I will work hard to ensure that Ross is an environmentally healthy town. Pesticides-Lets work to be a pesticide-free town on par with many other Marin cities and towns have. There are alternatives to pesticides and plenty of information available. Utilities-Get those utilities underground by 2020. This is both a boost for health and a positive visual impact. Green building-As a town we can have information available regarding green building to help build awareness for using both healthy and sustainable materials.
