Political Philosophy for Jack Gibson

"What should an excellent Marin County Judge be?" An excellent Judge must be fair, respected and respectful. It requires a person who is balanced, and one who listens. These are all qualities of "judicial temperament". All my life I have been described by friends and colleagues as possessing judicial temperament, which I believe I do have. But, I believe I can and will do more for the Superior Courts than simply exercise justice. I will aggressively implement innovative community outreach and cost-cutting programs to make our Courts more open, responsive, and accessible. I intend to bring all of these attributes and skills to the job of Marin County Superior Court Judge. In short, throughout my campaign, I will propose new ideas and new programs. I am a proponent of innovative community oriented programs such as Remote Courts specifically designed to serve areas of West Marin, and the more remote areas of Novato. Once or twice per month court would be held on location, in community facilities such as recreation centers. Such satellite courts would better serve the community and ultimately, save time and money. I also suggest a dedicated court for more serious behavioral matters such as spousal abuse and child abuse. My supporters cross a wide political spectrum, and include four current and former county supervisors and four local mayors including Mayor Al Boro of San Rafael, and many Marin council members. Fellow Water District Board Members, Alex Foreman, Jared Huffman, and Dick Hill endorse me. |
