Congestion and gridlock: this problem needs to address immediately!This has been a topic of discussion for over 10 years. Plans have been developed and redeveloped since the Bakersfield "Plan of 2010". We need to do something right now. Even if we were to break ground tomorrow a solution and system would not be finished until 2007. Think about that and what about the future growth we are not prepared for the estimated 50,000 residence who are on their way NOW. Are we prepared? We cannot sit around and wait any longer. There needs to be a plan in place. I have some ideas for the short term. However, long term plans have to be in place soon. Some of the short term solutions. 1) Widen some of the roads: Stockdale Highway, Rosedale Highway, 23rd, and 24th street. 2) Synchronizing lights during peek traffic hours and eliminate cross traffic during the rush hours. 3) Prohibit commercial traffic during these peak hours. 4) Stagger work schedules. 5) Car pool 6) Utilize the GET bus system.
