Our world changes every day. I know that well, and as your Supervisor I have made every effort to keep Humboldt County a great place to live and work in the new millennium. California's recent budget crisis has taken its toll on counties, but through tough and smart decisions we have prevailed where others have faltered. We planned ahead because we knew we could not count on the state. I took a personal pay cut to help keep county services and avoid layoffs.

I am proud of our work on the Veterans Halls, road and bridge projects in our district, and getting the Headwaters Fund up and running. Representing Humboldt, I support an amendment to the State Constitution protecting local tax dollars. I work with citizens to cut the regulatory tangle.

Your vote will help me continue my common sense approach that advocates for your right to enjoy the fruits of your labors. I am a strong voice against further taxation, litigation and regulation in County government and Sacramento.

As your representative, I will continue to regard private enterprise, basic law enforcement and viable county roads as priorities.

It is an honor to represent you in County government.
