Blue Ash has developed over the years into a community that is able to provide first class recreational activities to its residents with revenues collected by well-planned economic development. Basically, Blue Ash is an attractive location for businesses, and these businesses provide much of the capital for recreational services. This past year has been no exception. Spending on parks and recreation for the current year represents an increase from 2002 of close to 12%. While maintaining the traditional events of Sumerbration, July 4th, Taste of Blue Ash, and the Tuesday/Friday concerts, the City also worked on new projects with the Highland Grove Park and the new concession/restroom facilty by the Amphitheater. The City also made a major land aquisition with the purchase of over 8 acres of land across from the recreation center. This property has been slated for future recreational developement. I will work to keep the high quality recreational services to the residents while realizing that the pool of money to work with is not unlimited. Keeping the current high level of service provided by the police and fire departments of the City will always be a priority for me. The police department has undergone recent reorganization to see that more officers are out on the streets of Blue Ash while having adequate supervision to help them complete their jobs. The new north fire station will cut the response time to much of the City while providing a better central location for the department. Development of lands in the City for residential, business, or recreational purposes requires continued maintenance and enhancement of basic infrastructure. I will work for adequate planning on new development sites to see that traffic congestion and storm water drainage are minimized. I will also work towards a continued evaluation of current infrastructure and provide necessary maintenance. |
