1. How would you implement your top priority?

Answer from Rome Hughes:

In order to make Beechmont save for Pedestrians and help solve the traffic problems. I would Build two walk bridges; one over Beechmont and another one over Five Mile

Answer from Russell L. "Russ" Jackson, Jr.:

This year, the Township experienced three rainfalls measured as "100 year storms." At issue is Stormwater runoff primarily caused by rapid growth of development prior to the implementation of county stormwater regulations. We have commissioned an engineering study of problems regarding the Beechmont/Nordyke/Jakaro Drive runoff and are making application requesting a U.S.Army Corps of Engineers'study of regional stormwater problems, to be followed by the creation of a township mitigation plan.

2. Numerous important issues including transportation, land use planning, housing and economic development for the Greater Hamilton County regions are being deliberated by OKI's Land Use Commission and Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission and Planning Partnership COMPASS; how engaged should local government be in these planning activities? If elected, how would you participate in these planning activities?

Answer from Russell L. "Russ" Jackson, Jr.:

As both a member of the COMPASS initiative and the OKI Regional Summit, I have taken a leadership role in making Anderson Township an integral part of the regional planning process, as the success of our overall region will have direct impact on the prosperity of our local community. Having been elected Chairman of the Hamilton County Stormwater Oversight Committee, I will also assure local involvement in this highly critical regional planning effort.

Answer from Rome Hughes:

Yes! I would participate because the Township government should be involved (completely).

3. Ohio Department of Natural Resources in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Recycling Coalition conducted a state-specific study and found recycling businesses in Ohio generated $650.6 million dollars in state government revenue. If elected how would you promote recycling and support recycling programs currently in place in your community to reduce solid waste generation?

Answer from Rome Hughes:

I support recycling. I would ask different businesses to get involved.

Answer from Russell L. "Russ" Jackson, Jr.:

As a member of the Anderson Township Board of Trustees, I have actively supported the recycling effort in our community, from the Anderson Township recycling center, created in partnership with the Kroger Company, to the use of recycled materials in such diverse areas as the township newsletter, flyers and office supplies; township street and Greenspace signs; plus the planned use of recycled asphalt for the Hillcrest Cemetery driveway, among others.
