200 words from the Voters' HandbookEducation is the key to a successful life. We need a good education to suport ourselves and our families, to become a fulfilled person, and to participate fully in our democracy. I've been involved with education my entire life. I've been everything from A to Z, from soccer coach to PTA officer, from classroom tutor to member of School Site Council, from developing curriculum for parents to advising the school board as a member of a district-wide parent committee. Whether it's getting books for my neighborhood community center, teaching my children, or being a leader in my community -- children, families, and education are at the center of everything I do. I'm a mother of three children, President of my neighborhood association, and I'm out in the community talking and listening to people everyday. I have the time and energy to make this job a fulltime commitment. I'm thoughtful and do my homework to understand the issues. We need to include the whole community when tough decisions are made. We cannot exclude or alienate anyone. I'll work on your school board to bring people together to find the best solutions. I will always put the needs of our children first. |
