Candidate Statement (Ballot Handbook)By Katherine D. FaginCandidate for Board Member; Redwood City Elementary School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
This is my Candidate Statement, which you will receive in your Ballot Handbook. No one knows better than parents what it takes to help a child succeed. Next to parents, teachers are the closest to the students. We need a Board that listens to parents and teachers, and values their input. No one knows better than taxpayers how important it is to spend our money on programs that make sense for our children's future. Our programs should start with basics, and not stop there. We must focus on preparing our students for success in the 21st century and not waste our dwindling state resources. I will ensure that our budget is built from the classroom up # not the district office down. Good decision-making is not about "business as usual", but about leadership. We must have high academic standards, safe schools, and spend carefully on what works. As a parent, I see the impact of School Board decisions on my own children. As a PTA Board member, I work with families and schools to address complex issues. As a scientist, I know the importance of quality education for all children. I will faithfully represent the entire educational community. I welcome your input at http://www.faginforschoolboard.org. I respectfully ask for your support # for our children. |
