General Statement of Robert Lewis, Why you should Elect Robert LewisTime to look beyond endorsement name-dropping, great sounding pledges and promises, while the Rowland School District continues to fiscally and financially mirror the state budget. The Rowland Unified School Board continues its budget policy of over spending, leading to likely borrowing, when the minimal reserves are spent, a short-term crisis management program with no answers for the future except to suggest more tax increases! As a taxpayer, furthermore as an elected local official, who knows how and has achieved balanced budgets in the same community, without debt, more importantly without reduced service, I find this fiscal result unacceptable. I am also concerned that the school district has yet to address who will pay the educational costs of new development and growth in the School District. Unfortunately if the history of the Rowland Board continues, YOU & I WILL HAVE TO PAY! Pay to subsidize Growth and Developer Profits, by not requiring that Growth pay for itself. Pay for the new school sites, pay for the new class rooms, pay for the additional teachers for those new class rooms, pay for the expansion of existing educational services. The County, the Utilities and Yes the Water District, which I am a Director, requires growth to pay for itself. Why should we allow the present School Board continue with the policy of making the existing homeowners-taxpayers pay for all of the above. Time to make growth pay it's educational way, just as it does for roads, utilities and yes as it does to get new water systems. I am asking you to elect Robert Lewis, with 10 years of balancing budget experience, the standard of having new growth pay for itself, financial leadership in long-term planning which minimizes the need for crisis management. The candidate, November 4th, with a solid fiscal result record, who has been held accountable in service to the Community. ELECT ROBERT LEWIS, November 4th, 2003 Rowland Unified School Board. |
