About Albert Chang I was born (July 17, 1978) and raised in Rowland Heights, and have resided in our community for over 23 years. From primary school to college, I am proud to be a product of the California public school system. I began and completed my K-12 education in the Rowland Unified School District. I first attended Jellick Elementary, then moved onto Alvarado Intermediate, and graduated John A. Rowland High School in June of 1996. I earned two Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Political Science and Asian American Studies from the University of California, Irvine in June of 2000. I am committed to public education and I want to ensure that the same quality education I received when I was a student within the Rowland District is readily available to our current students. After graduating from UC Irvine, I decided to further my interest in public service by pursuing a job at the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC. There I was hired by Congressman John Shimkus to work in his congressional office as a full-time staff member. I stayed with Congressman Shimkus for about a year and a half before moving on to work for former Congressman Tom Bliley. While in Washington, I was able to volunteer on various campaigns, including the successful re-election of Congressman John Shimkus. After almost two years living, working, and learning in Washington, DC, I moved back to my hometown of Rowland Heights. For the first 6 months of this year, I worked as a substitute teacher within the Rowland Unified School District. In addition to running my campaign, I am also applying to graduate school to pursue a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree. There are also a couple of community organizations that I am actively involved with:
