Yearly operational Expenses skyrocketData from the 2002 audit and a public information request give a picture of the trends in spending for EID. The four categories,Facilities Dept, Finance and Management Services,Recreation and Office of the General Manger added together total this: 2001 $21,274,613. 2002 $24,000,002. 2003 $31,707,918. adj. budget thats on target for year to date. The operating Revenues for the same time period 2001 $23,211,226. 2002 $23,673,261. 2003 Still unknown but with no rate increase in this period a good est. would be no more than $25,000,000. Property taxes are to be used for capital improvments for the most part with only 25% to be used for operations. Last year these Taxes were $5,680,134. 25% of this is only $1,420,033. How do the expenses and income balance? Even if you add the interest income of 3,715,032 from 2002 which will be less this year because of the current int. rates you come up short a million dallars. for 2003. One can clearly see the expences are outpaceing income yet cost reduction have not been address only rate increases. |
