First, the goal must be set that every student read and write English before graduating high school. In addition, I support the Proposition 98 guarantee for educational funding, and will see it is honored. Good schools and well-educated students will mean a future with a strong economy and good jobs. Great strides have been made in education funding, we now need to make sure that the money is being spent well. Education money must go to the classroom, not to bureaucracy and waste.I will protect funding for our students in grades K -12, and I will commit to making sure taxpayer dollars go to our classrooms for our kids and for our teachers, not to waste, mismanagement and bureaucracy. I will work to put parents and teachers in charge of our schools, not bureaucrats. I will work with educators to emphasize English literacy upon graduating from high school, to ensure California's students are properly prepared whether they enter college or join our state's workforce. I will support innovative programs to fix the education system that is failing our students. |
