California has a gay population. Within that population are committed couples that are entitled to the same legal rights as a married couple. They own homes, have children, make medical decisions and must have the legal rights afforded married couples in order to live in our society as an equal. I fully support legislation that would afford them these rights. I am fully supportive of medical marijuana. People, who are not, have never watched their loved ones suffer. Suffering is something people tend to look away from and ignore. It is a reality however and if marijuana helps ease their suffering in any way, then it should be made available to them. This state has thousands of small business owners. They create jobs, pay taxes and stimulate the economy. Rising insurance costs as well as several other factors, threaten their very existence. We need small business in California. I am and have been Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of a multi-million dollar construction company. We are proud to be a merit shop since 1982. It is not a crime to be a non-union shop and there are many good businesses in California who are non-union. They are as proud of their company as a union shop is of theirs. After all, the splendor of democracy is freedom of choice and fair competition. I am against Project Labor Agreements (PLA). I would never take away a women's right to choose to have an abortion. We have all seen what horrors can come of that. I do feel however that abortion has become an easy birth control method and the sheer numbers of abortions needs to be reduced. Education and understanding is what solves most problems. People must begin to appreciate the value of life before a change in abortion statistics will be seen. The budget crisis in California is deplorable. I am a believer in truth and the truth is, until I take office and truly assess the situation, I can't tell you what I will do to put California back on the road to prosperity. I can tell you that I am prepared to do what is best for the people of California, not what's best for a political party or special interest group. I will not be swayed by party politics or special interest money. I've seen how that works and it does not work for the betterment of the people. In order for a truly democratic society to work, people need to trust it's governing body. I think the people of California have trust to give; they just need someone trustworthy to give it to. I am that someone. |
