JEFF'S BACKGROUND

I was born and raised in California. My mother hails from Michigan, and my father from the farmlands of Nebraska. I attended my uncle's school, the "Christian Life Center" in Santa Rosa from the 2nd to the 8th grades. I attended public schools from the 9th through 12th grades. Playing in bands as a teenager, I had the desire to become a rock "superstar." I set a goal, that, if I was not successful by the age of 23, I would quit music, and enter the business world to become a multi-millionaire. While still a teenager, I encountered numerous undesirable circumstances. After turning 18, I ended up on the streets. After being in this situation on and off for several years, I realized I had to make a change. Without government handouts, parents, God, or the help of friends, I set out to change the course of my life, and my efforts were quite successful (in my humble opinion).

I won't bore you with lengthy stories of gangs, or producers of illegal drugs attempting to get me to join them. I will not drag on with stories of death threats if I did not cooperate, or how I would often go without food for up to three days at a time. I will not go on about sleeping in abandoned cars and buildings, being robbed, or threatened at gunpoint. I won't go on about a thousand other things which most in our society do not see or experience, but which I did. I will say however, that I, and I alone, overcame the odds, escaped from situations which typically end in teenage suicide, and went on to lead a highly productive life.

At 23 I twenty-three I decided I wanted to follow in my uncle's footsteps (Who is the Episcopalian Arch-Bishop for South Eastern Asia, and parts of Europe) and teach religion. Not having the money to attend my other uncle's Missionary school, I began studying on my own. After four years, I decided that teaching religion was not what I was cut out for. I was too much of a rebel.

I entered the local junior college where I grew up at twenty-seven, and, declared a major in political science. After attending for two and a half years, and earning top scholastic honors not only at the school, but nationally, I decided to take a break, and try my hand in politics directly. I ran for U.S. Congress in the 6th district of California, and my main topic was the amount of taxpayer money that the government wastes, or is defrauded out of yearly. I was elected as the Vice-Chair of the Reform Party of California in 2002, and as the Chairman of the Board in 2003 at the party's annual convention.

I currently work as a Marketing Coordinator for Best Buy Inc., and have been with the company for about four years. I have passed on many offers for promotion in order to pursue other ambitions, and I am happy with my status in life at the present moment. Moving up in the world of business is quite simple in my view, and, I believe that I have all the time in the world to do so if I so choose. The business world holds nothing "intellectually" challenging to me hence the reason for my political ambitions. In politics, one has the opportunity to make people's lives, and communities better. In business, it's all about earning a profit, which, is not that difficult to achieve. If you think after reading this that I am not qualified to be your next governor, that's fine, we have had worse in office. My life experiences have forced me to be an overcomer. I have faced down all obstacles in my way, and have come out on top. I would not change one part about my life history if I had a chance to. My experiences have made me stronger than I would have ever been had I lived a "normal" life. It is with this ability to meet the most challenging circumstances, that I will take on our state's many problems. Fighting is what I do best, and, this is one fight that I am qualified to take on.
