Candidate for
Recall of Gray Davis; State of California

I am on the ballot as an anti-recall, protest candidate. Governor Davis was legitimately reelected less than a year ago, and has committed no crime that would justify a recall. Although every California governor in the last 30 years has faced some sort of recall activity, this recall got on the ballot only because one wealthy man poured almost $2 million of his own personal fortune into paying for signatures.

I won't deny that California is in deep trouble, and that voters are very, very angry. But blindly lashing out at our governor is not going to solve the budget deficit or turn the economy around. A successful recall now will just pave the way to more, and more frivolous, recalls in the future. How will any elected official make tough decisions while having to worry about facing a recall when things go sour?

I urge you to vote No on October 7th.
