Opportunity for Ventura County Community College students as first in line at CSUCI is win-win situation!Priority Entry to Local Students As a member of our community, a student of higher education and a supporter of university-ready transfer students, I continue to applaud the California State System action of guaranteeing reservations for local students who qualify for admission. As your future trustee, I will continue to ensure that local high school and community college transfers get priority for enrollment at the university level. We must work together to provide quality higher education at both the community colleges and 4-year universities. Noting that our local community colleges will provide most of CSUCI's students, we need to continue the education that will help qualify our students for the next leg of their studies. This is a major step in allowing our students access to bachelor's degrees without having to move out of the area to attend schools. Our students can continue to grow, focusing on their studies while staying at home or close to home. This environment will afford many not only the stability but also the financial means to support and heighten successful student learning. As a future member of the Board of Trustees, I look forward to continuing the work with CSUCI that will deliver priority admission for qualifying local students. Sylvia Munoz Schnopp Sept. 13, 2002 |
