Newman, a Historic Town remaining nostalgic

By E. Timothy Parker

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Newman

This information is provided by the candidate
The on-going investment in our centralized downtown marked by our threatre for performing arts and the recent streetscape project, provides the catalyst for our towns historic vitality. Now, we just have to remain consistent in our future endeavors.
I have a goal for the City of Newman. I want to work to insure the town remains virtually unchanged in its quaint nostalgic atmosphere where quality of life remains the focus. I see managing growth properly and ensuring the communities voice is heard as the key. Obviously, key decisions have been made to insure this is the case. We have not been marked by sparwling growth patterns, no strip malls or big box stores here. The attention has been given to downtown as it should. Our Historic Town being centered with a downtown buisness district is vital to local merchants. It also makes our town unique. Sure, housing has contributed to the growth, however, the growth was built into previous councils general plan. We are actually behind the growth curve that was predicted for Newman. I think that is a good thing. Change has happened to be sure. There are more needs for city services than before. We are beginning to feel the impacts, but also a good plan has been set in place. I will continue to work as a servant leader to insure the focus remain consistent. Keeping our town a most desirable place to live. Thank you for your support.
