Assemblymember Joe Simitian Joe Simitian was elected to the California State Assembly in November 2000 to represent the 21st Assembly District, which includes all or part of 15 cities in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Simitian's current work in the California State Assembly includes chairing the Budget Subcommittee on Education Finance, which oversees roughly $50 billion in spending on California's K-12 and higher education systems. Simitian is also a member of the Assembly's Appropriations, Transportation, and Utilities and Commerce Committees, chairs the newly created Select Committee on Privacy, and serves on the Select Committee on Air and Water Quality and the Select Committee on the Development of a 10th UC Campus. His public service over the years includes:
Joe Simitian is an attorney, businessman and AICP certified city planner.
