Common Sense Government

By Felix J. "Phil" Miranda

Candidate for State Senator; District 40

This information is provided by the candidate
What we need in government today are fresh perspectives and fresh ideas based on individual liberty and reponsibility. The business as usual and politics as usual mentality are failing us at every turn...
My reason for running for office is simple. I want to give the chance for every concerned voice to be heard and then act on the consensus. Many persons are quite tired of seeing special interest groups and organizations aggressively push policies through that do more damage than good to the general public. ("The noblest motive is the public good.") I will never sell out the interest or welfare of the general public in favor of any special interest groups or organizations and their handouts!

I am running for office because I really want to make a difference in how our government functions as well as make it more accountable to the people for its actions.

My simple rule for government lies in this basic formula:

Less bureaucracy + less red tape + less talk = more positive action!!

My ultimate goal is to acquire true freedom, liberty and justice not for all of the people; but for ALL of the people the way it was intended to be.

What we need in government are new and fresh perspectives and fresh ideas based on individual liberty and responsibility. What we need is a new spirit of boldness and fearlessness to forge ahead so America can once again be the land where each and every hard-working individual is given the chance to make his or her dreams a reality.

If elected to public office, I will aggressively seek out like-minded individuals who agree with my formula for successful government to aid me in my fight to implement some of these goals.

We can no longer afford to sit on our hands waiting for bureaucrats in there shortsightedness to make endless debate about what to do with the mess they have created; and then as an afterthought make decisions (often bad) that will affect us and our children for quite some time to come.

To be sure, the problems facing us as a State and the Nation in general are overwhelming. I truly believe that the best way to address these pressing issues is to have open and honest discussions on the problems of our times. Really good government is responsive to the people, not just to special interest groups or organizations. For it is all of us who live in our great state, in all our diversity, is what really makes us strong and gives me hope for a brighter future just around the bend. I only ask for your help and the chance to prove it.

I am looking forward to working with the peoples in our communities as we all look toward the goal of a better and brighter future for ALL people in our district.
