Tax ReformBy Charles R. MartinCandidate for United States Representative; District 2 | |

Replace income tax with a national sales taxThe present income tax system is unfair and abused constantly by professional politicians. Tax law is written to secure votes or money to campaign for the next election. I prepose we replace the income tax with a national, revenue neutral, sales tax. Tax would be paid on all sales with the exception of food, housing and medical cost. Thus you would pay only the amount of tax you choose. Buy a BMW and you pay taxes on $40,000. Buy a Ford Focus and pay taxes on $13,000. Never file a federal tax return again. Our Constitution has a phrase, "for the good of the people". It does not say for the good of some people. It is time to simply be Americans. Not rich, poor, black white, rural or urban. This tax plan would go a long way toward that goal. |
