California Republican Assemblyman Dennis Hollingsworth (66th District) is one of the legislature's leading fiscal conservatives. Unwavering in his call to cut waste and inefficiency from Government, the 35-year old Hollingsworth is touted as the next generation of California Republican leader. It was Hollingsworth's persistence that contributed to the placing of Proposition 42 on the March ballot, which, if passed, will dedicate all gasoline taxes to highway construction and other transportation uses. In 2001, Hollingsworth also led the fight against Governor Gray Davis's $1.2 billion sales tax increase. Because of his fiscal leadership, Dennis Hollingsworth was appointed in 2001 as California Chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the largest national organization of conservative state legislators. In December of 2000, Dennis was presented The Martin Calhoun "Friend of the Taxpayer Award" for the incoming freshman "least likely to sell out." Before joining the California legislature, Dennis Hollingsworth served as the Legislative Director for the Riverside County Farm Bureau, where his work on behalf of land owners made him a nationally recognized leader defending private property rights. Dennis Hollingsworth has appeared several times before Congress testifying as an expert witness about the current status of property rights in America. His work was also cited in Congressman Richard Pombo's treatise on property rights, This Land Is Our Land, in the Wall Street Journal, and on the ABC news program "20/20." An avid hunter and conservationist, Hollingsworth is also past chairman of the state organization of Quail Unlimited, Inc. Dennis Hollingsworth attended Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo and Cornell University where he studied Dairy Science, Agricultural Management and International Relations. Dennis and Natalie Hollingsworth currently reside in Murrieta, where they are raising their 1-year old son, Kenneth. |
