Candidate for
State Senator; District 40

Dear Voter,

I would appreciate the opportunity to represent you in the California State Senate. While many of you know the work I have done as your representative in the San Diego Community College Board and the California State Assembly, others do not. The new district I am running in extends from South San Diego to Imperial County and Southern portions of Riverside County. This is a big challenge to me because it includes urban, suburban and rural areas I have not represented before.

My experience as a College Trustee, State Assembly member and Chair of the California State Budget Committee will help me understand and serve my old and new constituency. Our goal of "Jobs and Education" is still the same as when we first set out to serve the citizens of Southern California. However, my efforts for jobs and education also include better health care, affordable housing, protecting our agricultural base, improving our quality of life and addressing many other important regional issues.

I hope that you will help me with these new tasks. I know together we can improve the communities we call home.
