Revive Energy MarketBy Peter D. De BaetsCandidate for State Senator; District 28 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Apply traditional American principles to California's energy market. We can apply the same principles and concepts that made our country great - Freedom, liberty, independence, and the free-society competition that results - to repair our crippled electricity market. Power suppliers need strict wholesale price controls that only a free-market can provide. Power brokers should be free to shop around for the best wholesale price, to enter into long-term contracts, and to charge a market price for power. Customers should be free to choose a power supplier, or to generate their own power and sell the excess back into the grid. For this solution, no additional taxpayer funding would be required. We would simply need to repeal laws and regulations that impede freedom and competition in the energy market. |
