I'm Kevin Bastian, the Libertarian Party candidate for Congress. You can learn about me and my candidacy at http://www.kevinbastian.com , or send an e-mail to campaign@kevinbastian.com .

The Libertarian Party is known as "the party of principle." You can learn more about us at our web site at LP.org , or call 1-800-ELECT-US.

The reason we're known as the party of principle is that--unlike the Democratic and Republican parties--we have a very basic philosophical principle that we believe in and follow--consistently--in determining our position on all issues.

We don't change from week-to-week, or year-to-year, based on Gallup polls or our opponents' positions.

The principle is a simple one. It's easy to understand, and easy to remember.

We believe that you have the right to make all decisions about your own life, and have the right to live in whatever manner you choose, so long as you do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose.

A simple way of thinking of this is: "Live and let live."

Libertarians believe that the answer to America's political problems, is the same commitment to freedom that earned America its greatness:

  • a free-market economy, and the abundance and prosperity that brings;
  • a dedication to civil liberties and personal freedom, that marks this country above all others; and
  • a foreign policy of non-intervention, peace, and free trade, as prescribed by America's founders.

Once you understand this philosophy, you will know my position on almost every issue.

If you elect me, you'll always know where I stand: for individual liberty, personal responsibility, and limited government.

I believe in a federal government so small, it will fit inside the Constitution.

If you agree with me that the federal government is way too large, way too costly, and way too intrusive in our lives, then you should vote for Kevin Bastian, your Libertarian candidate for Congress.

Thomas Jefferson wrote, "The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."

A century ago, government at all levels cost just 8% of our national income. Today, after 100 years of rule by Democrats and Republicans, it's nearly 50%!

We are halfway to socialism. Halfway to killing the American dream.

State workers under communism used to joke: "We pretend to work, and they pretend to pay us." Well, we know what happened to the Soviet Union.

People of the North Coast need a congressman in Washington who will trust the people to build the kind of society that honors and respects the spirit of the individual more than the power of government.

Oliver Wendell Holmes said "The great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving."

If you agree we need to move in the direction of liberty rather than all-intrusive government, please vote for Kevin Bastian, your Libertarian candidate.
