Candidate StatementBy Patricia SheehanCandidate for Board Member; Bellevue Union School District | |

My qualificatins as presented in the Voter's PamphletLearning doesn't end when the final school bell rings. It takes cooperation and communication among parents and teachers to bring about progress for our students. To boost student performance and allow all students to reach their full potential, parents must be involved in their child's education - from moral education to time spent reading; from overseeing homework to volunteering in schools. District officials must engage in partnerships with the community to support after-school programs. We will reach out to corporations and community organizations to help sponsor programs. Parents, teachers, businesses and the community working together will help us meet the challenges facing our schools. School boards face tough decisions and we need to have board members who will question and do their homework. We need to make the best use of every penny and create a budget that supports the children and their needs before bureaucracy's. Having served on boards and commissions, I am able to make difficult decisions. My granddaughter is a second-generation Bellevue District student; I will work hard to make her, and every other student's, school life the best it can be. I ask for your support on November 5. |
